Who we are

Our journey began in 1989, when a group of enthusiastic volunteers came together with a shared passion for animal welfare.

In 1996, we became officially registered as a charity in Spain.

Our shelter is located between Los Gallardos and Turre, and we primarily operate within the Levante Comarca area, which includes Vera, Antas, Bédar, Lubrín, Sorbas, Los Gallardos, Turre, Mojácar and Garrucha.

We’re always looking for dedicated individuals to help us continue our vital work. Whether you’re local or just passionate about animals, there’s a place for you at PAWS-PATAS.

In 1985, Karen Polansky and a group of dedicated friends laid the foundations for what would become the area’s first animal welfare society near Mojácar.

September The judicial process surrounding the Kim Halliwell shelter took over a year to conclude. Kim Halliwell was found guilty and banned from any involvement with animals for one year. We have now received approval to begin rehoming the dogs from the case, many of whom are still recovering. PAWS-PATAS also faced challenges with the land …
