QUESTION: Is it difficult to adopt a dog or cat in Spain and take it back to the UK?
ANSWER: NO...it is not
In fact, it is very easy as long as you meet the prescribed adoption criteria. PAWS-PATAS have worked alongside DOGWATCHUK; a registered charity located in the West Midlands for many, many years and inspect all the applications, conduct home-checks and ensure the animals are protected.
DOGWATCHUK have been a tremendous support to PAWS-PATAS and when the transport van returns to Spain it is always loaded with bedding, toys, books and anything else that can be used at the shelter or designated to our outlets in Mojácar, Turre and Las Buganvillas. At times, they have made urgent appeals for supplies; have applied for grants on our behalf and funded much needed building work. Recently reconstructing 2 new kennels and commissioning a new website for cats to be re-homed in the U.K.
Since 2008, long-standing volunteer Kerry Clarke has been the overseas homing co-ordinator; working closely with Denise Boardman in the UK. Hundreds of cats and dogs have found their “furever homes” and even during the pandemic, many more were transported. During May - November 21 - 64 puppies and dogs were homed and since January this year a further 26 alongside 3 cats.
