The hill was alive to the sound of music (The Incognito Singers charity concert for PAWS-Patas)
Echoing the Austrian landscape, the mountain location of ‘Chateau Polansky’ was the magical setting for the latest Incognito Singers’ concert on Saturday, 3rd September (in aid of PAWS) under the expert supervision of Musical Director, David Murphy .
The concert was staged in the beautiful reception room in the home of Karen and Rick Polansky with panoramic views of the Mojácar coastline and surrounding mountains. The sun shone outside and the Singers shone with a repertoire of familiar songs featuring major musicals from across the years – including ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘South Pacific‘, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Chess’, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ and ‘The Prince of Egypt’. At the end of the first half, the Singers gave an emotional performance of a ‘Les Miserables’ medley which had everyone applauding loudly.
Around 60 people, with some loyal helpers and friends, enjoyed the magnificent singing, glass of Cava and buffet food – as well, of course, as the generous hospitality of Karen and Rick Polansky. Between them, those attending contributed a magnificent € 1050 through ticket entry, raffle and drinks purchases to PAWS’ increasing need for funds to help abandoned dogs and cats in the local area. This exceeded the target Karen had set for the occasion and, as the President of PAWS-Patas, she was delighted with the support received for the occasion.
Given the beautiful weather, wonderful location and uplifting singing, everyone went away with a warm glow and fond memories of an afternoon enjoyed on the ‘musical hill top’.
Next to support PAWS-Patas is the return of the hugely successful ‘Just Joyce’ (Grenfell) monologue tribute, performed by The Ladies Who Care, at the Miraflores Restaurant, Camping Los Gallardos at 3.00 pm on Thursday 15th September. Another great occasion to look forward to!
