We have no idea where Donna came from, but she suddenly turned up outside a local supermarket and sat at the door watching all the customers come and go. Thankfully a lot of people were kind to her and fed her but, speaking with the staff, it became obvious that she had been abandoned. When PAWS-PATAS were 1st told about Donna we took her to the vet to check for a microchip, but she had none and as the weather had turned cold and wet, we took her back to the cattery as she could not continue living on the street.
After settling in, Donna went for spaying and the vet discovered that she had multiple cysts and inflammation of the uterus ~ if we hadn’t have rescued her, she would have had terrible complications in the future.
The happy ending to this story is that Donna has recovered well from her operation and is now living with her new family in Mojacar. They heard about her from one of our cattery volunteers and had actually fed Donna on several occasions when she was ‘living rough’ ~ she made a very big impression on them!
